The Grey Ave Podcast – Chris Nichols

Christopher Nichols is one of the most inspiring, smart and creative people in the CGI industry right now. From working with leading studios on The Day After Tomorrow, I Robot, Stealth, Tron: Legacy, Oblivion, Maleficent and The Girl with the Dragon Tatoo to photo real cars and photoreal humans and now going into new art and technology adventures.

Chris is the Director of Chaos Group, the developers of V-Ray as one of the main people behind Chaos Group Labs. He has been involved with many high profile projects while pushing art and tech in new directions.

His career journey is very interesting, it’s the reason why I had to bring him on the podcast since I have been following him for a long time throughout my career and I have learnt so much from him. One of the main things is changing careers. He is never stuck, always reinventing himself and doing fun things while still putting out great work.

Lesser Known Somebodies – Orlando Jones

I speak to Hollywood actor/comedian/talented human Orlando Jones. This is the podcast’s first real celebrity and we got to speak about dealing with haters, how his daughter changed his life, his portrayal of O.R. Tambo in a Netflix miniseries about Nelson Mandela and then Orlando turns on the heat and asks me a question where I get really embarrassed. Enjoy!

Lesser Known Somebodies – Zeno “Zenography” Petersen

I spoke to Zeno Petersen who is an award winning cinematographer but more importantly this podcast contains probably the greatest romantic love story of all time and that is the main reason you should give this episode a listen. There are other cool stories about going bald and being accused of murder in Canada…but the love story is the one!

A woman walking vs Roy Orbison

Today’s update is a short one.
I was listening to some radio station this weekend. Don’t they all sound the same these days? While I was tuned in, Roy Orbison’s “Pretty Woman” came on and I immediately thought of that “Woman walking in NYC” video. You know the one where she gets harassed so many times it seems unreal.
The lyrics of Mr Orbison’s song seems a little weird when you listen to them and think of it as harassment. For example:

Pretty woman, stop a while
Pretty woman, talk a while
Pretty woman, give your smile to me
Pretty woman, yeah yeah yeah
Pretty woman, look my way
Pretty woman, say you’ll stay with me
‘Cause I need you, I’ll treat you right
Come with me baby, be mine tonight

Now that seems a little creepy if you ask me.

So what I did next was take that audio and put it on top of the YouTube video and this is what came out. I apologise for the poor editing, but I only have Windows Movie Maker and it’s not the best software around.
